Peter Bürgisser

Professor,
TU Berlin
Peter Bürgisser is a professor of Mathematics at Technical University of Berlin. His main research interest is at the interface of mathematics and computation. More specifically: algebraic complexity theory (the quest for lower bounds), probabilistic analysis of algorithms for solving polynomial equations (smoothed analysis and condition numbers), and computational invariant theory. Bürgisser was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2010 and he was awarded an ERC Advanced grant in 2018. He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Computational Complexity and Foundations of Computational Mathematics. Bürgisser coorganized the Simons Semester, "Algorithms and Complexity in Algebraic Geometry“ in 2014.
